Jade Pothos

The "Jade" pothos is the plain dark green variety which, does well in low light areas. However, any of the pothos varieties can grow very large and used in many ways besides small six pots and baskets. Pothos can grow as a totem, in beds and even large pots like the picture below.

This picture is of a mainly of the green jade pothos but you'll notice a little sprinkling of the white or cream variety - "marble queen." What was of particular interest was the size of this pothos and its use.

The pot was probably 24 inches across, this plant was used outside in a shaded pool area as a stand alone specimens by doors going into the Beach Club at Disneyworld in Orlando.

To give you some idea how big this jade pothos actually is I've stuck my hand by some of the leaves for scale. You'll also get a better look at the marble queen coloring.

Don't just look around the garden center for plants and assume they can only be grown in the pot size you buy them in. Keep on the look out for new ways to use common plants and make them look spectacular when you're running errands around town or on vacation.

Grab that digitial camera and snap off a few pictures for future ideas. I could spend weeks and weeks at Disneyworld just looking at all the varieties of plants, the way they use plants indoors and incorporated into the landscape.
